The Sherwood Midi EVS Wood Lathe 350mm

With a large 350mm (14in) turning capacity, the Sherwood Midi EVS Wood Lathe features a high-quality inverter controlling a powerful 1hp AC motor. It weighs in at a hefty 57 kilograms, delivering precision through solid vibration reduction. The #2 Morse Tapers at headstock and tailstock ends, ensure that its compatible with all your favourite centres. And, the handy magnetic, moveable switch-box gives you the ultimate versatile work station no more stretching for that switch!

The bed extension, allows you to extend the working capacity of your lathe with a 610mm bed extension for any of those longer projects.

Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Induction Motor

The addition of an Induction motor increases the reliability of the machine. Compared with their DC counterparts, induction motors are quieter, simpler and more reliable. High torque at low speed is the most significant advantage of an Induction-powered AC VFD lathe over most DC versions on the market. When you need to slow right down for uneven workpieces or larger diameters, the Sherwood Midi EVS Wood Lathe drops as low as 100rpm without losing any torque.

Not only this, Induction Motors do not use any brushes – unlike DC motors. The less wearable parts there are, the less there is to go wrong or eventually replace! The convenient lock handles allow you to quickly readjust the settings of your lathe as needed. They can even be tightened further than factory settings if the locking is not tight enough for your needs.
