The Kadet Marking Knife is designed for the most delicate joinery work, such as defining dovetail pins from tails barely wider than a saw kerf. Its 0.74 mm thick, 7.94 mm wide sword-point blade projects 36.51 mm and features a 44 included angle with a single-side 40 bevel. The flat back allows the point to register snugly against a straightedge or joinery element from either the left or right side.
Proportioned for precision and light-duty marking, the pencil-like grip transitions seamlessly into a machined bronze or stainless steel ferrule. The handle length allows the cove to nest comfortably in the web of the hand between the index finger and thumb, while the profile matches the larger Pilot knife for a consistent feel between tools.
The ferrule includes three machined grooves for the index and second fingers, with the forward groove4.76 mm wide and rounded at the bottomoffering added comfort and security. These details give the Kadet its exceptional control and ease of use for detailed marking.
Crafted from compressed 1.59 mm birch veneer layers, phenolic resin, and dye, Liberty Wood mimics the beauty of Rosewoods and allows for colours such as Indigo and Charcoal. It is highly resistant to movement and wear, takes a superb polish, and needs no applied finish. Its density rivals Lignum Vitae, providing a satisfying weight in hand.
