Helical Cutterhead

This Sherwood 10in Lift-Up Combination Planer features a helical cutterhead with tungsten carbide inserts. Helical cutterheads incorporate square carbide cutters arranged into rows that wrap around the cutter block. Helical cutterheads are long lasting, easy to maintain and are perfect for machining difficult and highly figured timbers with little or no tear out. The additional advantage of helical cutterheads is that they operate quietly when compared to the chopping action of a traditional straight blade cutterheads. Work away in your home workshop without upsetting the neighbours. Perfect for shared spaces such as a club or community workshop.

Carbide Insert Knives

If you havent heard already, carbide cutters are the way to go. Each insert is 15mm square and sharpened on all four edges. Each insert fixes directly to the indexed helical head via a steel grub screw. The edge of each cutter is slightly radiused so to ease the shearing cutting action. When requiring replacement, due to the indexed head, it is very easy to release the carbide insert and turn to expose a brand-new cutting edge. Each insert has 4 sharp edges – no sharpening required!

Easy mode changeover

The Sherwood 10in Lift-Up Combination Planer is very easy and quick to change from planer mode to thicknesser mode. Release the two worktable locking handles. Lift the one-piece worktable. Lower the thicknessing worktable and flip the dust port into position, and you’re ready to go! And because the worktable is made as one piece, no additional alignment or tuning is required.

Aluminium fence and European blade guard

The aluminium fence is long, tall and hard fixes in position via two locking handles. The European styled blade guard is easily adjusted and provides you with maximum protection when using such a wide blade machine. Plane with confidence on your Sherwood 10in combo.
