Using the ER collet system

The ER20 collets will fit into any compatible chuck and as you tighten the nut on the chuck, the collet collapses together to hold the tooling in place. The ER20 collets must be fitted into your chuck correctly to ensure a perfect fit and minimise potential damage to the collet. Please use these steps below to insert or remove the collet from the nut.

Step 1. Remove the collet nut from the machine chuck

Step 2. Insert the collet into the collet nut at an angle, turn lightly until it clicks in place diagram A. Ensure the collet is secured as shown diagram B.

Step 3. Insert the collet and nut assembly back onto the machine chuck

Step 4. Insert the tooling shank and hand tighten the nut to hold in place

Step 5. Use spanners to tighten the nut

Step 6. To remove the collet set, just repeat the above steps in reverse
