The Sherwood EVS Maxi Lathe is the perfect solution for serious woodturning in a compact space. Featuring a 2HP three-phase induction motor, a full 400mm swing, plus a swivelling headstock, its capacity for large diameter work is unmatched in its class. Its massive cast-iron body ensures safe, precise turning work without movement or vibration. Forward and reverse functions allow you to hollow out your projects with ease, keeping eyes on what youre doing, as well as allowing the cleanest finish as you sand in both directions.

Power Plus

A full 1500W (2HP) is on offer in the reliable three-phase induction motor, delivered through two pulley settings. Three-phase induction motors deliver huge efficiency, performance, and reliability gains when compared with their single-phase and DC counterparts. And while the motor is 3-phase, it still plugs into a standard Australian 10A household supply.

Digital Spindle Speed Tachometer

Accurately dial in the perfect speed for your operation, and return to it with confidence again and again using the onboard tachometer. Speed is controlled precisely and easily through a Variable Frequency Drive, maintaining torque through the entire speed range.One setting goes up to 3000rpm for fast, clean shaping of thinner stock, while the second setting gears things down for maximum torque. Perfect for maintaining stability when roughing irregular pieces, or for turning some of our harder Aussie timbers.

Mobile Headstock

The Sherwood EVS Maxi Lathe features a swivelling headstock with index points at multiples of 45 and 90 degrees, allowing ultimate versatility for intricate tasks. Sliding along the precision-ground cast-iron bed, the headstock can be locked in place on the tailstock side for outboard turning of large pieces.
