Sherwood Midi Wood Lathe 350mm Swing

With a large 350mm (14in) turning capacity, the Sherwood Midi Wood Lathe features a 1HP variable-speed motor delivering power through a versatile three-speed pulley drive. It weighs in at a hefty 57 kilograms, delivering precision through solid vibration reduction. And with #2 Morse Tapers at headstock and tailstock ends, it’s compatible with all your favourite centres.

Pulse Width Modulation

Unlike some DC-powered lathes on the market that lose power as the speed drops, the Sherwood Midi Wood Lathe uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to control the speed of the motor. PWM vastly improves efficiency and torque at low speeds, allowing the user to turn with confidence at any speed. Use high speeds for workpieces requiring clean finishes and light cuts, and low speeds for removing large quantities of materials and rough cuts. Or, you know best, pick a speed somewhere in the middle!

Electronic Variable Speed

When you need the best possible level of control to optimise your accuracy and eliminate speed-related tear-out and chatter, then EVS is essential. Forward and reverse settings allow you to hollow out your projects with ease, keeping eyes on what you’re doing, as well as allowing the cleanest finish as you sand in both directions. The convenient lock handles allow you to quickly readjust the settings of your lathe as needed. They can even be tightened further than factory settings if the locking is not tight enough for your needs.
