Replaceable insert cutters are cost-effective over time, as you only swap out the blades instead of the entire unit. Once inserts become worn, it is simply a matter of removing the screw with the Torx keyway provided and replacing with a new cutter. Knives are all indexed and fit perfectly in your router bit without additional adjustment.
